Winter cosiness
As a huge lover of all things warm and cozy, I love the Winter cosiness from the latest Toast UK catalogue. I mean look at that couch with all the rugs and cushions. It's the sort of thing you'd sit yourself down on and not get up for another 8 hours or so, having lost yourself to the comforts of being horizontal, watching old-school 80's legal drama movies, with the snow falling outside and demanding hot chocolates be delivered to you. Heaven.

Crazy talk
Christmas already? I know, the calendar has only just flipped over to November! But then is it ever really too early to get excited about Christmas? These decos from west elm are to blame...
Santa gnome S&P shakes - too cute.
Feather wreath. Now that's a lot classier than your standard circle 'o branches.
Felt garlands.
Glass and feather decos. One day when I'm really loaded, instead of the homemade hodge-podge of tree decos I currently roll out, I will have a tree with coordinating, classy decs like this.

Baking Day
It's pouring with rain (again) today - seems a nice day to have baking smells fill the house.
This enamelware bake set would be lovely to whip up a few loaves in or a bread and butter pud.
As found by Eug, who has a eye for finding beautiful stuff.

Whoa baby!
So, I've started dipping my toe into the world of baby stuff lately. Shivers. It's a dangerous world out there. For example, when the likes of Missoni gets involved with designing prams (or strollers or whatever they should be called). According to Carl, I am banned from even looking at this brand. It's fair enough though, I would like to be able to afford to feed the little chap when he arrrives anyway.

I'm also totally loving the idea of getting a big Babar print for the baby's room (well, their corner of the room). What's not to love about Babar? This one is my fave.

So, more in line with our style, I've started sewing some clothes - inspired by these funky-as little pants from here...

Hungry
I got put onto http://www.tastespotting.com/ recently. Oh my gawd - where have you been all my life? Gorg pics of food, linking you to all sorts of different food blogs. It's where I found my no-knead bread recipe I now make every 2-3 days and also rave about incessently to anyone who will listen.
Today's find: Meyer Lemon Bars. A meyer lemon curd on a shortbread base. Well, OK then.
So many things to cook - so little time.

NYC sofa finds
Here's one of my finds from NYC - the environment furniture store. Oh gawd, I want to move into the shop. Seriously I was walking around with my mouth wide open, (like I always tell Mum off for doing), just drinking in the goodness, trying to burn the images of the beautiful furniture onto my brain.
And to top it off, all the materials used are either reclaimed, recycled or repurposed.
This is the couch I want...
But then, danger, danger, we wandered along to ABC Carpet & Home. Six floors of homewares. And these were some of the gorg couches on display in there. I was drooling by this point.
I tell you, Carl is in so much trouble when we get home.
(Did I mention that I somehow got him in a weak point earlier this year, when he agreed we could get a new couch when we get back home? Not sure what the worst part of this promise is for him - the spending money part, or the having to follow me around furniture stores while I ask him his opinion about whether he likes this sofa or that one better? Let's just say I do like to be well-researched.)

Let's face it...
...some days are just shitters. No other word for it. Your dreams feel very, very far away, you have a fight with your boy and your nose gets in on the action and clogs itself up with snot.
The only thing for these situations is an emergency dose of deep-fried carbohydrates, trash TV, and some dreaming of places far, far away.
Hence below....
Gorg Italian villas, from Cottages to Castles.

New side plate set.
So, even though Carl and I both baulked at the price of shipping stuff back to NZ, and Carl declared a moratorium on buying things "that we can ship home" (which I politely ignored), I really want a set of six of different side plates from Anthropologie to take home with us. Call it a souvenir?
They're just so beautiful - I perve at them every time I'm in the shop.
However, my next hurdle after convincing Carl we need these (I'm going the souvenir angle), is convincing him I'll be "totally fine" with a cheap-y plain white dinner set to go with them.
Here.

Food photographer Beatrice Peltre
I love the food photography of Boston-based, French-born Beatrice Peltre.
Lots of natural elements and colour. So pretty.

Keeping toasty.
It's getting into hibernation season here. Dark at 4.30. Going to bed with a hot water bottle. Eating home baking. Staying inside and watching movies. Curling up on the sofa with a stack of library books.
Here's some cute winter-y things from Toast UK. They look so appealing. Of course the danger with me is that the pj pants might become 'house pants' and then before you know it I'm out shopping in the whole ensemble.
Also thought the egg warmer was worth naming so as not to be confused with a hat (whereby the size of the pompom would be ridiculous).
