Not the best photos, and considering that in a week's time it will probably all be changed around (again), but here's the apartment now...
The fold out couch, all ready for visitors...
The couch fabric, cushion cover, mat and coffee table all IKEA. (The doily and blanket I won in a fishing comp. were fugitives from NZ I snuck into my suitcase).
Kitchen - the bar has already seen a fair bit of action.
From IKEA; the curtain, mat, pot plant, tea pot and coffee plunger. The plunger was an interim measure pre-stovetop espresso purchase. Carl is a much happier student now he takes his own espresso in his thermos, rather than whinging about the crap stuff they call coffee.
The lights are absolutley rubbish for reading or anything useful - but how good do they look? These will be coming back to NZ with us.
The basket and fake sheepskin (which feels very glam underfoot in the mornings, I must say) both from IKEA. The pillow was another NZ fugitive.
The wire fruit bowl wasn't exactly on my list, but it was definitely coming home with me.
The kitchen shelves of IKEA goodness. Carl is still trying to catch up to the new regime of where everything 'properly' goes on the shelves.
And because a bit of labelling never goes astray - I've organised all Carl's books. Clearly, I will be needing a real job soon.
IKEA fabric covering a multitude of interior decorating sins, and Nix's NZ blackboard.
The rental markets in many cities are cyclical: a few boom years with renters scrambling for any available studio followed by a glut in availability. In either scenario, the most desirable rental units are snapped up the quickest. Do your homework, then hit the pavement.
