Home sweet home - part 1

i love my little house. finally got around to taking some photos. first up, my kitchen shelves.

my spice jars, which are old chemist jars (they still have the etchings in the glass) that i got from a garage sale for $12. that was a happy day.

Wahoo! I did it...

after many many months of stalking on my behalf, and ignoring protests such as "they aren't that comfortable, they're quite small, shit, they're expensive"...yadda yadda yadda, i am happy to say i am the proud owner of 2 of the tolix stools. part birthday present and part house-warming present (to myself!) they look bloody cool!

Inspiration for the new house - overall

today i have posted my fave pics and inspiration for each room in my new house (still got 2 months until i can actually decorate so am calming myself with virtually decorating it).
have scanned in fave images from my scrapbook, and am amazed to find there is some consistency with what i like for this house! as i like so many different styles, it could have gone any number of ways....

from a living etc travel feature to spain (surprise, surprise!)
the colours and energy are great - there's polka dots and wine and plants and food.

Inspiration for the new house - outside

cute little courtyard outside as it is currently. needs a bit of a 'shoosh'.

i think this is a pretty little outlook. (is that a tolix chair?!)
from desire to inspire.

hows this? like a lounging suite outside. a great sunny spot with groovy planting. nice.
from scrapbook - originally from living etc mag.

like the rustic old dining table outside.
from scrapbook - originally from inside out mag.

Inspiration for the new house - kitchen

wahoo - my fave room. here's how it currently is - small but i love it. certainly wouldn't mind if that pimp coffee machine was included in the sale :)

swedish goodness. like the pot of pansies and the b&w checker fabric.
from skona hem.

its here again. just really like the rustic mix with all the orange.
from desire to inspire.

a fave pic. similar again i guess to above (oh well, glad i am deciding on a theme). b&w tiles this time, orange, rustic table, open shelves. nice.
from scrapbook - oroginally from living etc mag.

black open shelves, baskets, books.
from scrapbook - originally from living etc.

Inspiration for the new house - dining

here's how it is now. really can't wait to get in there and stamp my mark all over it.

this looks like a similar cosy little nook. the table is nice with comfy seats, crockery jumble and the light.
the comfy seats do look nice - may have to reconsider my tolix stool fetish for this space.
have a similar light i could put here, and nice crockery could go in the shelving (its built in).
i like these stools (not as much as tolix....or do i?) they look COOL. they have mixed the woods well with the white painted tabletop, and i really like the metal herb planter. (highly doubt i could keep them looking so alive). the groovy wine glasses also wouldn't go astray :) (haven't used the word groovy since austin powers - might retire that word for good.)
from scrapbook - originally living etc.

these people had a cool house mixing cath kidson prints, in a 1900's wooden house, and with lots of spanish crockery. i really, really like the mix.
its got that old fashioned style that i always get sucked into but its not too cheesy.
scanned from scrapbook - originally from nz home & garden mag.

Inspiration for new house - bedroom

here's currently what room is like; pretty boring.

THIS is how i want it! (ok, its slightly more rustic than my room). so much to like in this pic for me - the black fluffy rug, white linen, modern chair with cushion and rustic old painting. divine.
from scrapbook - originally from living etc mag.

Inspiration for the new house - lounge

so here's the lounge as it is now with the dodgy furniture of the current owner.

i like the colour scheme in this and the mat is nice.
from adesch.

this is pure missoni love. i like the wild colour here.
scanned from my scrapbook - orginally from living etc mag.

i like the colours (again), the piles of books, wood and white covers on the comfy looking sofas.
scanned from my scrapbook - orginally from inside out mag.

lounge suite similar to ours, with nice pink pops of colour. overall look a bit modern/cheesy for me probably? is that mean?
from adesch.
