Back!

Oh yeah. Back in NZ and back to the old bloggin. Squeezin' time in between being the entertainment officer for certain 6 month old and performing domestic miracles to faff about with interiors and recipes and orgaisation stuff. And to come accross lovely new blogs like this one - Call me cupcake. Ridiculously pretty food.

Sunshine and sand

How's this for a cute wee sandbox?
My brain is full of baby stuff at the moment. Hence my very sporadic postings. I have to admit, I have been a bit of a pinterest fiend lately. Seems a lot easier to just oogle pictures on pinterest rather write anything on a blog post, especially when you are busy being a personal assistant to a three month old. Especially a three month old with a cold, and (worse) a husband with a cold. (Aka the dreaded Man-flu).
This is a pretty rad little sandbox. However the big one down by the beach will be a lot easier to deal with! We booked our tickets home to NZ today - only 8 weeks to go!! I can't believe how fast two years has gone. So in eight weeks time there will be a fair bit more sunshine and sand than we've seen lately...

PROJECT: Shoe storage

I have been an awol blogger lately because I have been busy being besotted with the new little man in my life. I fear I may never have time to do a crafty project again, but here I go lining another one up.
Shoes organised with styley photos on the boxes, and a cheerful fluro pink shelf would be a lot nicer to be confronted with than the jumble of piled up shoes I have falling out at me when I open my shoe cupboard.
Mmmm...the sweet joy of organised storage.

PROJECT: Coffee sack floor cushions

I did have some coffee sacks as mats in the house, but I think they would look pretty good as floor cushions.

Winter cosiness

As a huge lover of all things warm and cozy, I love the Winter cosiness from the latest Toast UK catalogue. I mean look at that couch with all the rugs and cushions. It's the sort of thing you'd sit yourself down on and not get up for another 8 hours or so, having lost yourself to the comforts of being horizontal, watching old-school 80's legal drama movies, with the snow falling outside and demanding hot chocolates be delivered to you. Heaven.

So much goodness

There is just so much goodness at Anthropologie. Lovin' this giraffe hook for the little nursery.

Crazy talk

Christmas already? I know, the calendar has only just flipped over to November! But then is it ever really too early to get excited about Christmas? These decos from west elm are to blame...

Santa gnome S&P shakes - too cute.

Feather wreath. Now that's a lot classier than your standard circle 'o branches.

Felt garlands.

Glass and feather decos. One day when I'm really loaded, instead of the homemade hodge-podge of tree decos I currently roll out, I will have a tree with coordinating, classy decs like this.

How cozy do these rooms look for the Winter?

What I've been up to

Here's some of the stuff I've been making lately, as part of this nesting business.

A jacket for the little guy...

Hat..

Bibs...

Some friends picked up this rocking/nursing chair from the recycling part of the dump and gave it to us...with a decent clean up and a bit of re-upholstery (it was a hideous beige colour in it's previous life), we've got a pretty good nursing chair.

Here's a layer cake I made recently for a baby shower...it looked like this on the outside..

but when you cut into it there are six layers of colour. Cool huh.

And this is my fave part - what we have nicknamed the 'Cute Zone'.
Includes the nappy-changing system Carl finds hilarious, the NZ native bird toys, and of course a bit of Babar...

Mentally redecorating

I've felt a wee bit homesick this week for Oslo and Tairua, (think the nesting instinct has kicked into full force now, which is kinda scary as I'm a pretty good nester anyway by nature). Anyhoo, as per usual when a bit of homesickness hits, Tairua gets mentally redecorated. Here's the inspiration this time;

I LOVE these bar stools. They look very uncomfortable to sit on and are probably worth an arm and a leg, but I still love them a lot.

As always I am a total sucker for a cosy rug on a chair. Even more so for a cosy rug on a Phillipe Starke chair.

I like the colour of this kitchen because I have a thing for grey and wood and white at the moment. I don't know if I could commit to how dark this is though.

The colour of this basin is rock n roll. Totally in love with it.

OK, this one isn't that exciting, but it's bright and sunny and has a nice chunky wicker basket and plants that are alive.

This picture makes me think 'How have I been living without a hammock in my life?'

Nice simple rooms, not too much fuss. Ooo, a sheepskin rug. How surprising.

Just the general vibe of this room I like. Well, OK, it's probably the mis-matched chairs all painted grey.

Here is is again = grey + wood + black + white + yellow. Mmmmmm.

Another gorg kitchen from Marie Claire Maison.

Digging the low seat/bed with aaaaaaalllllllllll the cushions. I'm sure I definitely have enough cushions for this look :)

Yes, yes, it is a grey kitchen again. But it does go so nicely with the buttery Smeg fridge which we will be reacquianted with on our return home. And I'm thinking this el cheapo Ikea island bench might be a cheap option to have it looking like this....

Minty green

I'm not usually a green fan, but I do like this green table from Shannon Fricke's blog.

Cute explosion

There is a cute explosion going on in the house with the addition of all sorts of baby bits and bobs for the little fella's arrival. Must say, I do like the black/white/grey colour scheme in these little tacker's rooms, which go to show you can have a cute explosion while still looking styley.

Missoni + Target....1 more day!

I know this blog is a bit Missoni crazy lately, but it has paid off. The Target Missoni range goes on sale tomorrow and below is what is on my wishlist. Anyway, the bonus of all my Missoni-harping-on has not gone unnoticed by the other half, who *amazingly* is actually behind my acquisition of some Target Missoni items. (Can't decide of he's most pleased about the fact that they are about 1/10th normal Missoni prices, or that happy preggers wife = very happy life. I'm not questioning it it either way.)
Travel bags. I can almost justify it as being for the little guys stuff to travel back to NZ in?

Cushion. Can't have too many of these to fluff about the house.

Rugs. Preferably would like both.

Espresso cups. Can pretend these are for the boy, who loves his morning espresso.

Stationery + Missoni = love, I tell you.

Kindle case. An essential.

Throw. Again, you can't have too many throws now can you?

Funky towels.
