Words that have been following me around

So this is a bit random, but you know how when you hear a word for the first time, and you're like"Hey! how has that word escaped my knowledge?" And you sort of vow to hold onto it so that it doesn't escape you again and you won't again be caught with your pants down (so to speak) in the vocabulary department?
And then, like out of nowhere, in the next few days or weeks, the word seems to follow you around, either to (a) taunt you for being so thick as to not know it in the first place (I mean, everybody's using it, how could you not have been using 'supercalifragilisticexpielidocious'?) or (b) (and this is my preferred option), that the world is conspiring to help make you remember it so you keep hearing it.

This has happened to three words lately.
Recalcitrant: Resisting authority or control; not obedient or compliant; refractory. Hard to deal with, manage, or operate.
Segue: To make a transition from one thing to another smoothly and without interruption: The conversation segued from travel anecdotes to food.
Vociferous: Crying out noisily; clamorous. Loud, noisy, vocal, uproarious, boisterous.

So don't be surprised if you hear me chucking these out randomly into conversation in an effort to practise using the blighters, as if I knew them all along.
